The purpose of the Christian Education Committee is to enable Virginia Synod congregations to understand, respond to, and participate in the continuing activity of God in Jesus Christ revealed in the Bible, and as confessed in Lutheran teachings and heritage, and to apply these understandings in their daily lives, by:

Being advocates for educational ministry,
- by nurturing congregations and persons to grow in Christian vision;
- by recognizing the learning aspects in the total Christian mission and ministry;
- by providing Christian Education objectives by age group.

Providing support
- by providing models and standards for learning programs;
- by recruiting and supporting coordinators and volunteers;
- by publicizing programs;
- by making available materials for use through the Synod Audio/Visual Library and Resource Center,

Working in partnership with the Division for Congregational Ministries
- by advocating and using their resources;
- by adapting their materials as required to suit our needs;
- by sharing our needs and our insights with them.
We are actively working at these goals by:
- providing Christian Education resource persons, material resources, and support for lodging and travel.
- providing resource speakers for Power in the Spirit.
