MISSION PARTNERS COMMITTTEE

The Mission Partners Committee creates and sustains supportive relationships between established congregations and mission churches with the Virginia Synod.

Mission churches need outside support to survive.  ELCA support has been significantly reduced in recent years.  Congregations are encouraged to help fill the gap and be partners with the new Lutheran churches through ongoing financial help as well as donations of material and goods such as surplus furniture, choir robes, office equipment, hymnals, Sunday School supplies, and kitchenware.  Prayer support and exchange of ideas are also ingredients of such a partnership.

Specific objectives of the Committee are:

• Increase awareness among churches of the Synod concerning opportunities to assist our mission churches.

 

• Conduct and annual mail appeal among the Synod churches to encourage congregations to include mission churches in the yearly giving.

 

•   Increase each year the number of donor churches and overall donations for mission churches.
  
  
• Work closely with the Virginia Missions Committee and Lutheran Men in Mission for mutual sharing of ideas and resources.
  
  
• Promote Mission partners at the annual Virginia Synod Assembly.
  
  
• Make Presentations to individual churches and groups.
