Have you ever wondered about God, the meaning of your life, or what it really means to be a person of faith? Are you trying to figure out what God might be calling you to do with your life? Are you still trying to understand what it means to be a Lutheran Christian? Then come to Bishop’s School, a five-day learning opportunity for high school youth that includes seminary professors, pastors, seminarians, a community of peers, and a bishop-in-residence. There will be inspiring worship, engaging classes on theology, scripture, and church history, small groups for reflection and discussion, and service opportunities.
For more than 25 years Region 9 of the ELCA has offered an opportunity for serious theological study known as Bishop’s School for outstanding high school students (those who have completed 10th, 11th, or 12th grade). It has been a life-changing experience for many. The purpose of Bishop’s School is to provide an in-depth exposure to solid theological thinking and inquiry. This experience brings together about 30 high school youth who will spend five days together with faculty from ELCA colleges and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and one of the bishops in Region 9. The enclosed flyer for the 2017 Bishop’s School provides more details on the upcoming school which will be held at Camp Kinard in Leesville, SC, July 25-29, 2017.
