“I will bless you… so that you will be a blessing.”  Gen. 12:2

With gratitude for the blessing of God’s grace, bestowed on us and our respective congregations as members of the Body of Christ,  we, the members of the Virginia Synod African American Outreach Team, embark on a journey to become a blessing to the New Mission Start of Rejoice, in Chesapeake, VA, by assisting its members in:

+     Defining a vision for Rejoice’s ministry and intentional outreach to an African-descent/multicultural population in the heart of Chesapeake.

+     Developing the business plan for a permanent multi-use facility for this ministry that can be used for worship by Rejoice -- and by Rejoice in combination with other Synod entities for administration, outreach, community support services, and projects to meet social needs.

+     Publicizing this special Synod ministry, to enlist support from Synod  congregations as well as congregations/agencies church-wide.

+     Identifying and applying for grant money to establish and grow the ministry.

+     Strategizing to meet future needs and identify opportunities.

+     Continuing to “walk with” Rejoice – through prayer, encouragement, and Christian fellowship  and presence (e.g., through intermittent visits, special occasions, attendance at ministry reviews and meetings with synodical or churchwide staff, and so on).
