• Oversight and encouragement of the Ministerium and our Congregations
  
• Oversight of the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Virginia Synod
  
• Chief Ecumenical Officer
  

1. To pray for this synod and to study the scriptures, confessions, and constitutions of the ELCA
2. Build up the ministerium, encourage, affirm, pray with and for
3. Be present for the major gatherings of the synod wherever possible
4. Provide oversight for the pastoral vacancy settings
5. Lift up the work of the institutions of our synod
6. Lift up the work of the whole church
7. Seek to raise, solicit, gather, engender funds for the work of the gospel
8. Seek to recruit candidates for professional service in the church and to fund their education
9. Seek everywhere and anywhere to establish congregations and re-vitalize congregations
10. Seek to build the ecumenical nature of the one Christian Church
11. To publicly celebrate who we have been and are and can be through the gospel as the Virginia Synod!
