Colleagues in ministry – I share an update from our partners in Papua New Guinea (PNG), from Pastor Tobby Eleaser. Please continue to keep them in prayer as they deal with ongoing devastation following the volcanic eruptions. A group of four from the Virginia Synod will soon be traveling to PNG; Pastor Tobby references this trip in his email:
“I am very much occupied with the volcano eruption related problems…
If the airport [in Hoskins] is cleared we might cut short your visit to Kimbe/Bialla. I am not sure if I can get you over to Bialla because it has become a disaster zone. There have been problems with bridges and also the volcano eruption and I do not want us to be caught by surprise in a situation which might hamper your flight schedules.
Congregation members in Navo, Kabaya and Soi have been badly affected and many of them are at care centres at Barema and Wilelo. Some have left Bialla for Kimbe in fear of rumors circulating now that there might be a third eruption soon. Others have come to see me so I can help them to arrange for a ship to transport them back to their home provinces.
If you would like to provide financial support for our brothers, sisters, and siblings in PNG, please give using Virginia Synod Disaster Response.
