The Virginia Synod Youth Assembly is the annual meeting of the Virginia Synod Lutheran Youth Organization, to which all Lutheran Youth in Virginia automatically belong. The Virginia Synod LYO is also the group in Virginia that relates to the ELCA Youth Organization. The Youth Assembly meets at the same time as the Synod Main Assembly each year on the Roanoke College Campus. Youth will need to be excused from school on Friday, June 8th.
Because most rostered ministers will be at Synod Assembly on June 10th, we have provided a few options of what to do in place of your regular sermon that Sunday in your congregations:
Live Stream Synod Assembly
The entire weekend of Synod Assembly will be live streamed on the Virginia Synod YouTube Channel. We will be having our own worship service at Synod Assembly (Check the Guidebook App forr the most up to date event schedule) and you can follow along. This option is only for congregations who have a good internet connection as well as a video projector.
Play Bishop Humphrey’s Video Sermon
If you have a screen and a projector in your church, you can play Bishop Humphrey’s video sermon on Sunday morning. If you are confident in your wifi, you can play it straight from vimeo.com
Read Bishop Humphrey’s Sermon
The text from Bishop Humphrey’s sermon is also available if you would like to ask a volunteer to read his sermon. You can also read a short bio of Bishop Humphrey if you would like to introduce him as the author of the sermon before the reading.
